The staff at Aesthetic Surgical Arts believes your time there should be a positive experience — from the moment you call for the first consultation to follow-up check-ins after your
treatment or procedure is complete.

“We approach everything here on a personal basis — it’s a family environment. I want people to feel like they are the most important person in the world. This is what I believe makes our oral surgery and plastic surgery practices stand out from others in the community,” says Dr. Joseph Camarata, owner. “We have an extremely kind, caring, and talented staff; their attention to detail is second to none, and they truly care about our clients. We pride ourselves on attention to detail.”

And it seems his patients agree.

“After I made the decision to have plastic surgery, I began to feel apprehensive, but once I met with Dr. Camarata, I knew I was in great hands,” says Susy, a recent patient. “He really took his time explaining my procedure and patiently answered all my questions. By the time I left, I was feeling very comfortable and confident in my decision. I am so happy with my results. Dr. Camarata and his staff are the best in the business.”

The practice truly is a family affair — Dr. Camarata’s wife, Colleen, is a nurse on staff. The two reside in Overland Park and have two adult children, Andrea and Joseph, two grandchildren, and another one on the way. The Camaratas take that love of family to the office with them each day.

So what’s on the menu of services you can consider in your quest to achieve your aesthetic goals?

Quite a few options, as it turns out. You can choose from a nearly endless list of treatments or procedures like tummy tucks, liposuction, breast reduction/lift/enlargement, facelift, rhinoplasty, lip augmentation, and a wide variety of skin care treatments. But that is still not a complete list.

Dr. Camarata is board-certified as a plastic surgeon and also an oral maxillofacial surgeon. As such, patients can get dental implants, bone grafting, wisdom teeth pulled, and more.

“The practice is unique in that there are two specialties represented: oral and plastic surgery,” he explains. “We have expertise in one office environment that most don’t, and Mia Bella Donna Medspa (also located on-site and owned by Dr. Camarata) is a perfect complement to those two surgical areas.”

Dr. Camarata received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska and his doctor of medical dentistry degree from the University of Pittsburgh, graduating with distinction and honors. He completed his plastic and reconstructive surgery residency program through the University of Texas Health Science Center and completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency through the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Dr. Camarata held the position of chief resident in both programs.

What is his advice to those considering surgery?

“There is a reason why people specialize in certain medical fields, so consult and choose a specialist for your procedure — not a general or family practitioner,” he advises. “Whether you’re looking for advice or a second opinion, there are many different options for an issue you may have. You want someone who is knowledgeable in all of the latest technology and opportunities to advise you.”

These procedures are not just for women! The practice sees its share of male clients too, most commonly for pigmented lesions, facial treatments, botox, liposuction, rhinoplasty, and dental implants.

And, Dr. Camarata assures you there is no need to be nervous. In addition to the talented staff treating patients, the environment is one of beauty and peace, as well. The reception area is beautiful and calming, and they play classical music throughout the office.

Though devoted to his practice and staff, Dr. Camarata always finds time for family, as well as a few hobbies.

“When I get the opportunity, I enjoy golfing and my motorcycle; I also like to do DIY projects around the house,” he says. “I just finished a water project in the backyard.”
